With LatteGirl’s parties (yes two) this weekend we will be all over the place, but once again to save on wear and tear on the house we have opted to use an outside place (Funtime Junction) rather than having all of her friends into the house. (We made that mistake once… once!) So at least we can leave that cleanup to others.
We also opted to even take the easy way out with the “family” party and having most of the food catered. That leaves me with only the cake to decorate. In a way I feel bad that I am “buying” my way out of so much of this. But somehow, I am sure I will be greatful I did when it is all over.
In a matter of convenient timing, the package arrived from our travel agent with our tickets and such for our Disney World vacation on LatteGirl’s birthday. So now she considers the trip as part of her present. In a way, that was an easy way out of buying more presents. On the down side, that leaves with one hell of a “How do you top that?” for next year.
School ends for LatteGirl, a week from Tuesday. Summer Camp doesn’t start until two weeks later (fortunately we will be on vacation for one). Doesn’t anybody every think of coordinating such events?
I am not “‘anti-business” by nature. I am a small business owner myself. But, when large corporations pull these dumb stunts, it really reminds me why they can’t be left alone and trusted to “do the right thing.” The latest example, GM Chrysler and The Auto Alliance have all put up faux grassroots websites that are against laws requiring better fuel economy in cars, and asking people to contact Congress and urge them not to pass this legislation. It is bad enough that they can buy off some Congressmen through lobbyists, but this is just too much.
I don’t hide my distaste for The Faux News Channel. With very good reason. They need to be exposed for the propaganda machine that they are. An excellent example is when they invite a ‘Pro-Life’ Activist onto a NEWS segment to claim “Birth Control Is A ‘Pesticide’ That Will Make Women Just ‘Like Men’”. Fair and Balanced? HA! I don’t think so.
