Moms (and Dads) Gone Bad – I didn’t even get a chance to comment on this story before it was announced that the mother was arrested because she bought some of the guns for this disturbed kid that had apparently been planning a “Columbine like” attack, , and his father faces charges for lying on an application in an attempt to purchase a gun for him back in December of 2005. The mother has been charged with unlawful transfer of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, corruption of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of reckless endangerment. They should however charge her with consipracy and perhaps aiding a terrorist. They should most certainly charge her an an accomplice, even though she did not help with the future plans of a attack, just by her actions she is certainly complicit in assisting in his plans. The father got off easy with house arrest since he did not actually manage to buy his son a weapon. Just what the heck kind of parents are these?
Just another day with dead students – with stories like the above and it unfortunately becoming all too common, the fact that in Ohio a 14-year old boy killed 4 kids before killing himself, barely broke national news. They don’t go into much detail other than he was brandishing two handguns. And I have to wonder yet again, where does a 14 year old, first of all get a gun, and second, the money to buy the gun?
Coulter Culture – It is not everyday that I find a nugget of wisdom in the bile that spews forth from Annie, and admittedly it is difficult on the surface to find anything of value in her latest antisemetic tirade, but in there, mostly overlooked was something that may very well be true, although she doesn’t really complete the thought. She says that it would be “easier for the Jews” if they would just convert to Christianity. When she apologized (of course, her words were as always “misinterpreted”), she “explained” that “Christians just view themselves as perfected Jews.” Now what I am saying she is right about, is not her main “point” but what she explains as “Christian Views.” That may of these “Wackjob Christians” like Coulter (I will not saddle all Christians with her particular brand of insanity), actually do believe this. That they are “perfected” and that anybody that things even slightly different from them is inferior. Scary people. Of course, it still boggles my mind that hosts continue to have her on, papers continue to publish her trash, and people still buy her books. Much like how Sarah Silverman got her own show, I am completely baffled by this.
Gore me to death – I am going to go out of my way this weekend to not watch any news or political type stuff on TV this weekend, because I am certain that all we will see it more about Al Gore and the Nobel Peace Prize, coupled with people from the GOP and Global Warming deniers in general (I’m sure there are at least a couple that aren’t GOP) doing their best to trash him, and once again try to deny global warming, despite the fact that the award going to him really does underline the importance of the issue. There is nothing new in this arena. Either you are aware of it, or you chose not to be. It is that simple. I’ve already heard this same game played out before, it would be too much like watching reruns of a show you didn’t care for the first time around. (like Sarah Silverman reruns maybe?)
More thoughts from the sleep deprived – So sleep has still been a struggle lately, and this is the result. When you look at your watch to see what time it is, you glance for a second and immediately know what time it is. Why is it then when somebody ASKS you the time, you have to look, struggle for a second, with a long UMMMMM… It is about… and then FINALLY you can read the time? Is this some sort of weird performance anxiety?
Can we make them use their own products? – Why is the line at Starbucks always so long? Are their employees now so totally repulsed by coffee that they refuse to drink it? At least here in NJ, they all seem to move in slow motion. I swear I need to buy a cup of coffee to keep me from falling asleep while waiting to get my coffee.
Will I get “nabbed” again? – It was raining this morning on my way to work. It stopped by the time I arrived, and now the skies are bright blue. I wonder if I will be detained (again) at the bus terminal.
