Yup, that time again. The Friday Focaccia. Since somebody asked, I will answer the question I expected to come up much sooner, “Why the “Friday Focaccia?” Focaccia is a flat bread that is often used as a base for any number of ingredients and baked. There is no single Focaccia, it is a collection of whatever you want to put together. This is my take.
Through Phat Mommy, I found Parent Hacks. Parent Hacks is a “Daily parenting tips and ideas from the real experts — actual parents.” Some are common sense, some are a bit out of the ordinary, but there are some gems in there for everybody to use for kids regardless of age.
It was not a good month for Grocers with both Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Gerber Graduates Chicken Pasta Wheels being recalled. If you use either of these products, please check out the recall information.
I was interviewed for an article on the concept of the Sustainable Table by Today’s Diet and Nutrition Magazine. I sure hope I did more good than harm. I have to admit, I was nervous (although I am not sure why… I mean it was Diet and Nutrition Magazine for goodness sakes). Don’t know when the article is coming out though.
Thanks to Chris at Rude Cactus for reminding me to look back at my Couch Potato Bets from September. I don’t get a lot to brag about, so I will take this opportunity to be an amazing prognosticator (or just really lucky):
What I said about ‘Til Death
Fox tries to pull out another “Married with Childrenâ€-esque clone with this series…but I have a feeling people will stay away… and the show will get canned before it can draw ‘cult’ status.
It hasn’t been canceled yet, but the numbers still show me to be correct as it continues to dwell in last place in the ratings.
What I said about Happy Hour:
Regardless, it stinks the critics hate it, it has no real show around to support it. Dead, Dead Dead. And seems to deserve it.
It lasted 4 episodes. Although Fox is threatening to offer this stink on DVD in the future.
What I said about Vanished, Kidnapped and Runaway:
I put these three shows together to avoid repeating myself… I will be surprised if even one of these is still on the air come springtime.
Well, as it turns out, Vanished was pulled after 9 episodes, Kidnapped was pulled after 5, and Runaway lasted only 3.
What I said about Lost:
… lost a bit of its luster and shine during season two, something I like to call the “Twin Peaks Effect.†When a show comes off a huge as Lost did it is hard to keep up that pace and expectation level. It will be interesting to see if Lost can hold on.
Now admittedly that is me being more of a voyeur than a prognosticator, but is seems that Lost is losing it.
What I said about CSI: Crime Scene Investigators:
But after seven season, I have to wonder how much is left in the tank.
This the only one I can say from actually watching the show faithfully. The answer is NOT MUCH. I didn’t realize (I guess I don’t read enough TV rags), that Will Petersen (Grissom) is apparently tired of the show, and took a 4 week hiatus in the middle. No offense to Liev Schreiber, I like him as an actor, but I don’t like his character, and I think the loss of Grissom will be the death of CSI. Add to that the fact that Grey’s Anatomy is kicking CSI’s butt, and the future becomes even more dicey.
Of course, I will readily admit when I am wrong as well.
I said of Men in Trees:
“Why Anne, Why?†This show is gone by Christmas if not sooner.
This I and the critics were apparently completely wrong, and people are watching. Not me, but there are people out there. Someday, maybe I will tune in to see what they see.
So what about you? What shows are you watching? What is better than you thought? What was supposed to be hot… but is not (besides apparently Lost). What interesting tidbits have I missed out on this week?
