In Part I I discussed the benefits of running as far as your health is concerned. Â So now, let us talk about the soul.
These days, it would seem that there are more and more charities and causes that are vying for a dwindling amount of discretionary dollars. Â So how do we choose? Â And how does that tie in to keeping ourselves moving?
For me, races are a bit of an oddity. Â I normally only do things that I am good at. Â But running can be boring. Â It wouldn’t be strange for me to blow it off here or there, and slowly it would start to disappear from my routine. Â But, if I have a race “coming up” then I am inclined to keep up with my preparation for the next race. As you search for races, you will notice that there are a great many that are fundraisers for various charities.
So, now you can kill two birds with one stone, help yourself and help others, and do so with the same dollars. Â You can keep yourself moving, and you can help someone else at the same time. Â That is the true definition of a win-win scenario.
