I have found I have a penchant for non-dairy milks. Â Cashew milk is a favorite, especially the Chocolate Cashew. Â So when I found Silk Almond Nog, I was thrilled. Â Only 45 calories per cup as opposed to what… 300 for regular egg nog. Â The idea of this sounded fantastic, besides the lower calorie count, it is eggs, dairy, saturated fat and cholesterol free. Â So, what could be the problem?
The problem is that it isÂ terrible. Â It tastes sort of like a runny vanilla cake mix. Â I didn’t notice originally, but they suggest adding nutmeg (which apparently is the Christmas version of Pumkin Spice), so I did that. Â Then it tasted like runny Spice Cake mix with a hint of vanilla.
Lesson Learned: Sometimes you can’t mess with the original, the results just aren’t worth it. Â I’ll stick with regular egg nog and just drink it sparingly.
